If you ever want to eat on a budget and be full and satisfied, then this place is definitely for you. Chinese dumpling house is one of my favorite restaurants whenever I'm in Markham and craving for some dumplings. Coming around at 7pm on a Friday, the restaurant was starting to get busy but we managed to get a seat. How you order would be through the menu sheet on the table where you can indicate the quantities of each dish. There's a variety of dumplings to choose from, and the offer steamed/pan fried options. They also have rice and noodles as well, but of course we came here for dumplings ;)
Food wait time was around 10-15 mins depending on the meat as some takes longer to make than others. We ordered:
- Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (6 for $6.25): Perfectly fried and very juicy! The pork was super soft and definitely was fresh. Every bite had soup coming out haha.
- Steamed Lamb Dumplings (15 for $8.99): There were so many pieces! These were also equally juicy and you can really tell how fresh it is; they make their dumplings in house daily.
- Pan Fried Green Onion Cake ($3.99): It was very tasty and definitely soft, but I'd say that it was a bit too oily because when I held it with my fingers, there was a good amount of oil on it.
- Tomato and Egg Drop Soup (Regular for $5.59/large for $6.59): Very tasty, and the bowl was huge! My friend and I couldn't finish this in one sitting.
With all these dishes, our bill was under $30 with tax/tips. Definitely a great restaurant if you're on a budget and for tasty food! -

My friend and I wanted to sample some of that White Rabbit bubble tea that's also found in this plaza but wanted to eat a real lunch before hand. She let me know that this was the dumpling spot to be so we came here for noon on Saturday. It is located in Commerce Gate which isn't the best for parking but we both managed to get lucky. There is underground parking which no one ever seems to want to take but it's a little less hectic than circling the surface lot.
Even though it was prime lunch time, there were still a lot of empty tables at the restaurant. We were seated quickly at 2 tables that were pushed together. Later when it got busier we were asked if it was okay that they separated our tables so they could seat more customers which we obliged.
You're given a sheet to tick which items you would like order similar to what you might do at dim sum. They have a menu with lots of pictures. One thing I frantically looked for on the menu were dumplings in chili oil but no dice, they don't seem to have it. We ordered three dishes which was more than enough for two people. I've never seen a snaking green onion pancake but it was interesting. Each piece of the snake is folded so the outside surfaces are crispy but the inside is puffy and soft. It didn't feel too greasy but I mostly just tasted fried. The steamed egg and chive dumplings are something I never would have thought to order but were actually alright. They screamed breakfast to me which was pretty interesting. Some that we had at the end of the meal were super hard which was disappointing. Lastly we shared the pan fried pork and chive dumplings. These were pretty good because they were crispy and fried on the outside but still juicy on the inside. I opted to dip these in vinegar and that broke up everything kind of tasting the same. For some reason the taste of the chives lingered in my mouth all day which wasn't that great. Overall an ok visit. -

My go to dumpling place in Richmond Hill. How can you not serve good dumplings with a name like this! Not sure what to say but try them all! Serving size is pretty good and the skin not overly thick or thin. I come here lots and have never been disappointed.
You should also try the green onion cake too.
Parking may be your only challenge here! -

One of the better dumpling places in the Markham / Richmond Hill area that makes dumplings fresh to order. Don't expect elaborate decor or service however.
Each order of dumplings (steamed) comes in 15 pieces. You can order to share, or enjoy it as your main dish. The fillings are typically pork & chive, bok choy & pork, and other unique flavours that you might not get in other restaurants.
The dumpling is juicy and the wrapper is fresh and chewy. It is not as thin as soup dumplings.
The beef pancake is unique in a way that the pancake doesn't come prewrapped in foil like other places. The pancake is freshly fried, and a plate of thinly sliced marinated cold beef, hoisin sauce and scallion is served so you can top to your liking.
Haven't tried their stir fries or rice dishes so can't comment on those. Typically you get seated quite quickly and no lineup. -

Came here on Saturday evening with some friends and family, Chinese Dumpling House focuses on traditional cuisine with some inspirations from the north and south (Cantonese).
Though the place inside isn't much to look at, locals sure know where the go-to place is for some comfort food, especially dumplings, which are made in house and fresh.
Our party of 5 ordered an array of dishes:
Pork and Leek dumpling dumplings
Pork and pickled cabbage dumplings
Pork and celery dumplings
Fried pork dumplings
Steamed greens
Spicy Beef
Crispy beef
Green onion pancake
House soup.
If I had to OMIT, I'd choose the crispy beef, it was overly fried with a lot of batter.
Overall their portions are huge and their prices are reasonable (even though Markham/ Scarborough) is a tad bit cheaper and just as good :)
